Moore Bros. Dry Goods & Grocery store of McKenzie from 1873 to
1884. The bulk of the material relates to the items purchased for
stocking the store in 1873. |
| HISTORY : |
Moore Bros. Dry Goods & Grocery was founded on September 20,
1872 by the brothers R. B. Moore, J. B. Moore, C. W. Moore and B.
P. Moore of Trezevant, Tennessee. The company expanded to the
surrounding towns of Christmasville, Sharon, Martin and eventually
McKenzie in 1882. In 1883, B. P. Moore merged his store with J. T.
Burns and thus formed Moore & Burns Dry Goods. The business
was in operation until the late 1940's when it was purchased by
Wendol Richardson and remodeled as a clothing store. |
